EMMAUS ROUNDTABLE CATHOLIC EVANGELIZATION AND APOLOGETICS WORKSHOPS
Emmaus Roundtable is a lay Catholic apostolate dedicated to facilitating the "
New Springtime of Evangelization" that Pope John Paul II called and prayed for. It began in Cleveland, Ohio during the summer of 1996 by a group of people eager to share the teachings of Jesus Christ in light of the Church, which Christ began on earth almost 2000 years ago. Several people began meeting in the home of Ralph Russo to discuss this fullness of truth and to lift each other up in the Holy Spirit. A spark was ignited and others were soon attracted to the enthusiasm and love of God which was shared in these meetings. Regular meetings which usually focused on one main topic always involved prayer, lively discussion, challenges and the active pursuit of truth. The biblical exegesis (from the Greek, meaning, "to lead out") of Catholic and non-Catholic doctrines were explored and studied in depth. To fully understand and defend Mother Church, the Bride of Christ, they felt the need to understand and be able to explain, from Scripture and the Magisterium, the most commonly misunderstood Catholic beliefs. Archbishop Fulton Sheen, in speaking about this several years ago said, "There are not 100 people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongfully believe the Catholic Church to be."
This
Emmaus Roundtable model was also brought to St. Joseph Church of Randolph, Ohio by Pat Bline in 2004, where it has expanded to other locations such as Akron, Canton...we are in the process of opening many more in the near future. Come join us at any or all of the meetings. Bring a friend, bring a Bible.
"...Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence..." 1 Pet. 3:15
